New rules at the National Library of Latvia: hot drinks allowed
From July 1, the LNB allows visitors to bring and consume hot drinks in thermos cups or disposable cups with lids in selected reading rooms to create a cozier environment.

The National Library of Latvia (LNB) has updated its usage regulations starting July 1, with the aim of creating a more comfortable and inviting atmosphere for visitors. Under the new rules, patrons are now permitted to bring and consume hot beverages in the reading rooms located on the M floor, the second floor, and the third floor’s Technology and Science reading room. The drinks must be carried in thermos cups or disposable cups that have lids to prevent spills. This change is part of the library’s effort to enhance user experience and foster a homelier environment. Previously, such allowances were not in place in these areas, likely to protect the library’s collections and equipment from potential damage. The new policy is limited to these specific reading rooms and does not apply to other parts of the library.
