While many peers spend the summer relaxing or gaining their first work experience, about 80 young people from across Latvia have chosen to spend ten days in a military camp. The camp takes place at the “Lāčusils” military training area in Alūksne district and aims to enhance the knowledge acquired during State Defense Course lessons.

The program includes live-fire shooting, orienteering, field combat skills, and group singing. Participants not only test their physical endurance but also consider whether to tie their future to the military field. The camp is voluntary, and it brings together young people with varying levels of experience from the State Defense Course.
