Free International Media Camp for Youth in Sigulda Opens Applications
From August 24 to 29, Sigulda will host the international media camp 'Young Media Sharks' where 50 young people from Latvia and the Baltics can learn media skills for free under the guidance of experienced professionals.

Young people from Latvia and other Baltic states are invited to apply for the international media camp "Young Media Sharks", taking place from August 24 to 29 in Sigulda. The camp offers training in documentary filmmaking, directing, journalism, TV and digital content production, as well as working with artificial intelligence tools. Lectures and practical sessions will be led by renowned media professionals from Latvia and abroad.
Participation and Application
The camp will accept 50 motivated young people aged 14 to 20. Participation is free thanks to the main sponsor – the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Riga. To apply, candidates must fill out an online form and submit a creative assignment by August 10 on the project website www.youngmediasharks.eu. The working language will be English. Organizers encourage early applications and particularly invite those who doubt their abilities to apply.
Guest Lecturers and Organizers
Guest speakers include documentary film producer Don Edkins from South Africa, director Audrius Stonys from Lithuania, New York University lecturer Boris Frumin, Ineffable Films director Menefese Kudumu-Clavell from Boston, film director Dzintars Dreibergs, IR magazine editor-in-chief Nellija Ločmele, TV3 Group Latvia program director Elīna Jēkabsone, AI expert Kristaps Cīrulis, and others. The camp is organized by the youth organization "Avantis". It is being held in Latvia for the tenth time.
Impact and Alumni
To date, over 400 young people have graduated from "Young Media Sharks". Many now work in media, creative agencies, and the film industry or study at top universities in Latvia and abroad. Alumni include TV3 journalist Linda Pūle, Radio 5 editor Toms Putniņš, LTV journalist Dāvids Freidenfelds, and others. After the camp, participants can join "Avantis" projects and the youth media center "Young Media House".
