The National Health Service (NVD) is working on a new e-health portal for residents, with a planned launch by the end of summer or in autumn. Currently, a prototype of the portal is available on the website “teste.lv”, where residents can test it and provide suggestions for improving usability.

Users on social media have noticed the “Insurance Status” section in the current e-health portal and inquired about its meaning. The NVD explains that this section was created in connection with planned changes to the healthcare financing model, but the information displayed is for informational purposes only and does not affect access to services. The portal also includes a note that the status is currently informational.

Due to the development of the new portal, only critical updates related to security, regulatory compliance, and essential functions are being made to the existing portal. Broader user interface improvements will be implemented in the new portal.

The new portal will be mobile-friendly and offer personalized information about doctor appointments, prescriptions, preventive check-ups, and other health-related events. Since December last year, residents have been able to test the prototype and leave feedback on “teste.lv”.
