New quiz tests whether friends see you as a "mammoth"

The Latvian news portal Latvijas Avīze has published a quiz in its entertainment section designed to reveal how up-to-date or, conversely, old-fashioned readers' everyday habits really are.

The quiz's introduction notes that simply having a few apps on your phone doesn't necessarily mean someone is truly modern. To find out, participants are asked to answer questions about how they act in various everyday situations — in the kitchen, at work, and at the store checkout.

How the quiz works

One example question given in the quiz involves preparing a large bowl of rasols, a traditional Latvian holiday salad, for a festive table. Participants must choose how they would go about cutting up the ingredients: using a cutting board and a sharp knife, using a kitchen gadget designed to speed up the process, or simply buying the salad ready-made from a store.

Based on the answers chosen to this and similar questions, the quiz ultimately tells the participant whether their habits would lead others to consider them a so-called "mammoth" — someone who clings to outdated ways of doing things — or someone who keeps up with modern everyday trends.

The quiz appears in the portal's entertainment section, which regularly publishes similar lighthearted content, including other quizzes as well as articles on astrology and everyday habits.
