New quiz tests how well people remember childhood counting rhymes

Latvian news portal La.lv has published a new interactive quiz inviting readers to test how well they remember counting rhymes and folk sayings from childhood. The quiz consists of 11 questions asking users to recognize or complete text fragments from various children's poems and riddles.

One of the opening examples requires completing the phrase "I baked, baked ______, some big, some small" (a traditional Latvian rhyme about baking), with the correct answer being "little loaves." The quiz's title also references another classic rhyme about a small Turkish bean that traveled somewhere, along with questions about what porridge children used to cook and who worked at the forge.

Score tied to nostalgia

According to the quiz's creators, correctly completing at least eight of the eleven sayings suggests the person spent a lot of time with their grandmother as a child. The test is thus framed not as a strict knowledge check but as a way to evoke nostalgic childhood memories.
