New quiz tests whether readers can tell famous Andrises from Mārtiņšes
Latvian newspaper "Latvijas Avīze" has published a lighthearted quiz challenging readers to identify, from photos alone, whether a well-known Latvian man is named Andris or Mārtiņš.

The "La.lv" news portal has released an entertainment quiz designed to test how well readers can recognize prominent Latvian men named either Andris or Mārtiņš.
The quiz's introduction notes that these two names are extremely common in Latvia — nearly every workplace, circle of friends, or family gathering includes at least one Andris and one Mārtiņš. The creators point out that well-known public figures and celebrities in Latvia are no exception to this pattern, which can occasionally lead to mix-ups over who is who.
How the quiz works
Participants are shown photographs of recognizable men and must guess, for each image, whether the person is named Andris or Mārtiņš. The quiz consists of several questions presented one after another.
The quiz's authors specifically warn about the fifth question, saying this is the point where readers' minds may start to "get tangled" — in other words, it is considered the hardest part of the quiz and most often causes participants to hesitate or get the answer wrong.
The quiz is part of a broader entertainment section where "La.lv" regularly offers readers quiz-style content about well-known public figures, current events, and everyday topics.
