JBL unveils trio of Wi-Fi speakers for whole-home audio
JBL has launched the Cove series, three Wi-Fi speakers designed to play music across multiple rooms simultaneously, marking a shift from its usual party-speaker focus. The lineup goes on sale September 13.
JBL, a brand traditionally known for party speakers and Bluetooth devices, is entering new territory with its Cove series, a line of Wi-Fi speakers built specifically for whole-home audio. The company describes it as a significant evolution in its product strategy.
The speakers can be paired with one another over Wi-Fi through the JBL One app, allowing music to play across different rooms. JBL says the system delivers uninterrupted listening throughout the house without requiring users to manually ungroup devices or reset anything when adjusting the setup.
Three models for different needs
The series includes three speakers. The Cove M1 is the standard model, described as built for everyday listening, featuring three tweeters, one woofer and AI-based sound boost technology. It is priced at $230.
The Cove P1 is a portable, battery-powered option that can be carried around the home, with a battery life of 14 hours per charge and support for Dolby Atmos. It costs $400.
At the top of the range sits the Cove X1, the largest and most powerful model, equipped with four tweeters and two woofers plus Dolby Atmos integration for room-filling sound. It is priced at $450.
All three speakers will be sold in black and white color options and go on sale starting September 13. The Cove line can also be paired with JBL's Bar Series MK2 soundbars, functioning as rear speakers in a simple home theater setup. JBL has designed the lineup as a modular system, letting buyers add speakers over time as their needs grow.
