18-Year-Old Woman Drowns at Jēkabpils Beach
On Monday evening, an 18-year-old woman went swimming at Radžu Reservoir in Jēkabpils and disappeared. Her body was found the next morning.

On the evening of Monday, June 29, authorities received reports that an 18-year-old woman had gone swimming at Radžu Reservoir in Jēkabpils and failed to return. Several emergency services joined the search.
Lifeguard Toms, who was on duty that evening, said there were no signs of drowning and that the beach was crowded. He noted that while most swimmers could be monitored, it was difficult to keep track of everyone due to the large number of people in the hot weather.
Artis Bokāns, the manager of the reservoir, told Latvian Television (LTV) that the next morning, something appeared on the water surface right behind the children's buoy, where nothing should have been. The discovery confirmed the young woman’s death.
