Man breaks into flat via roof, attacks partner and children in Jēkabpils

On August 11, Latvia's State Police received a report from a resident of Jēkabpils that a woman had been attacked inside her flat by her partner. According to the report, the man gained entry in an unusual way — first climbing onto the roof of the building and then entering the apartment through the balcony door.
Several emergency and police units arrived at the scene without delay, and the man was detained on the spot. He is currently being held at a short-term detention facility.
Criminal proceedings launched
Police have opened a criminal case covering several offences: threats to commit murder and cause serious bodily harm, failure to comply with a court-ordered protection order against violence, and cruelty and violence against children.
