The fire-resistant ceiling plaster that collapsed at Jēkabpils Secondary School No. 2 last year has now been addressed, and the building has been declared safe for use. However, a legal negotiation process is ongoing between the municipality, the construction company and other involved parties to determine who should bear responsibility and cover the resulting losses.

One of the key points of disagreement is whether the fire-resistant ceiling plaster should be restored at all. The parties have not yet reached an agreement on this issue.

During the negotiations, the municipality and the builder are trying to establish which side is liable for the damage. Since the process is still underway, no final decisions have been made regarding the allocation of responsibility or compensation. In the meantime, the school continues to operate, and the threat to the safety of students and staff has been eliminated.
