Nearly a thousand homes in Jēkabpils region still without power after storm
Almost a thousand residents of the Jēkabpils region have been without electricity for more than three days following a recent storm. Grid operator Sadales tīkls promises full restoration only by Friday.

Following storm damage, nearly a thousand households in the Jēkabpils region remain without electricity. Many residents have already gone more than three days without power, and grid operator Sadales tīkls says full restoration to affected homes will not happen until Friday.
Living without electricity
One family facing this situation is the Šnore family, who live on the "Eglītes" farmstead in Kūku parish. Their story was featured on the LSM program "Обсудим вечером."
The Šnore family says it had prepared in advance for possible power outages, so the current situation is not a complete surprise to them. They note they are able to manage without electricity for a long time still, thanks to that earlier preparation.
Situation across the region
The power shortage affects a wide number of residents in the Jēkabpils region, where the storm caused significant damage to infrastructure. Sadales tīkls continues work to restore power lines, but says full normalization will only be achieved several days after the storm.
