Autumn Harvest and Plant Fair to Take Place in Jelgava on September 19
On September 19, Jelgava will host an Autumn Harvest and Plant Fair at Duke Jacob's Square and Krišjānis Barons Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., themed around the carrot this year. Traffic restrictions will apply during the event.
Jelgava will hold its Autumn Harvest and Plant Fair on September 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Duke Jacob's Square and along Krišjānis Barons Street. The event is organized by the municipal institution "Kultūra".
Visitors will be able to buy plants from Latvian growers, including fruit trees, berry bushes, perennials, roses, hydrangeas and heather, along with fresh vegetables, fruit and berries. The fair will also feature products from local producers and craftspeople, such as smoked goods, cheese, bread, pastries, honey, juices and wines, as well as ceramics, wood and textile items, jewelry, books and souvenirs.
This Year's Theme: The Carrot
The fair's theme this year is the carrot. A dedicated photo corner will be set up, along with creative workshops where visitors can shape vegetable figures, work with modeling clay and jointly paint a vegetable-themed wall. Inflatable attractions will be available for children.
The fair opens at 10 a.m. near the Jelgava Culture House. Throughout the day, performances will be given by "Kultūra" dance groups "Ex Lielupe", "Rota", "Ieviņa", "Jaunība" and "Lielupe", with music from Gatis Mūrnieks and Aigars Kudrickis.
Traffic Restrictions
The event will bring traffic restrictions. From 1 p.m. on September 18 until 5 p.m. on September 19, stopping and parking will be banned on the section of Krišjānis Barons Street between Uzvaras Street and the entrance to Duke Jacob's Square. On September 19, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., that same street will be fully closed to vehicle traffic between Uzvaras Street and its intersection with Pasta Street.
