Jelgava Urges Timely Applications for School Meal and Supplies Benefits
The Jelgava Social Affairs Department calls on families to apply by set deadlines for municipal benefits covering school meals and educational supplies.

The Jelgava Social Affairs Department (JSLP) is encouraging families with schoolchildren to submit applications for municipal support programs promptly. Applications for the meal benefit must be submitted by August 15, while the benefit for purchasing school supplies is open until September 30.
The meal benefit, covering 100% of actual costs, is available to general education students from low-income and needy households, children with disabilities, as well as children from large families, foster families, and guardian families. For preschoolers in compulsory education from these groups, the benefit is up to €70 per month.
Support is also available for students in the basic education program at Jelgava Vocational Secondary School, where the municipality will cover meal costs up to €4 per day. For students in professional orientation programs from designated groups, a benefit of up to €15 per month is available, while foster and guardian families can receive up to €70 per month for meals at vocational education institutions.
Until September 30, families can also apply for the individual school supplies benefit. It targets children from low-income and needy households, as well as foster and guardian families. The benefit is €70 for general education students and €35 for preschoolers in compulsory education.
Additionally, the JSLP reminds that students in grades 5 and 6 who are registered in Jelgava and attend schools founded by the municipality can receive a meal benefit covering 20% of the meal cost.
