New private children's playground "Rančo R" to open in a Jelgava apartment courtyard
A new children's recreation and play area called "Rančo R" will open in Jelgava at the start of the new school year, set in a courtyard between apartment buildings. The opening event is scheduled for September 1 and will include workshops and farm animals.
A new children's recreation and play area named "Rančo R" is set to open in Jelgava at Matera Street 59, in an unusual location for such a facility — a courtyard surrounded by apartment buildings in the city center.
The site is run by Romāns Šalajevs together with his family. He also serves as a board member of "Rančo R" and says local residents have already gathered there before, including for an Easter celebration. However, the official opening has been timed to coincide with Knowledge Day, marking the start of the new school year.
What visitors can expect
On opening day, visitors will be able to take part in various creative workshops and use a photo corner. A particular highlight will be the farm's animals — nutrias, dwarf goats, and rabbits of several breeds — which visitors will be able to feed and pet.
The opening event will take place on September 1 at 4 p.m. Organizers note that admission to the opening event will require a paid ticket.
A call to parents
The organizers are asking parents to carefully consider their children's safety, noting that children must be accompanied when visiting the play area. The companion does not have to be an adult — an older brother or sister can also take on this role — but parents should judge for themselves whether that person is capable of taking responsibility for the child.
