The Jelgava Social Affairs Department reminds residents that applications for a benefit covering individual school supplies are open until September 30. The support is available to children from low-income households as well as foster and guardian families.

The Jelgava Social Affairs Department has reminded residents that there is still time — until September 30 — to apply for a municipal benefit intended to help cover the cost of individual school supplies.
The support is available to children from households officially recognized as poor or low-income, as well as to children being raised in foster families or under guardianship, provided they attend a general education institution.
Benefit amounts
Students attending general education institutions in person are eligible for a benefit of 70 euros. Children enrolled in the mandatory pre-school education program can receive 35 euros.
How to apply
To receive the benefit, parents or guardians must submit an application form directly to the Jelgava Social Affairs Department. Applications are accepted from July 1 through September 30, after which the window closes.
