Multiple motorcycles collide during rider parade in Jelgava
Several motorcycles crashed during the end-of-season motorcycle rally in Jelgava on Saturday, injuring at least three riders, briefly extending traffic restrictions on two bridges.
A crash involving several motorcycles occurred in Jelgava on Saturday during an end-of-season motorcycling event. According to the LETA news agency, which observed the scene, at least three motorcyclists were injured.
Following the collision, traffic restrictions on Lielā Street between the Lielupe and Driksa bridges were temporarily extended. Around 2:10 p.m., the Jelgava municipality announced that traffic across both bridges had been restored, a development also confirmed by eyewitnesses on social media.
A large-scale motorcycling event
The crash took place during a major end-of-season motorcycle ride that drew more than 3,000 riders from across Latvia. The parade began at 1 p.m. at Jelgava Palace and followed a set route — starting from the palace parking lot and courtyard, then along Lielā Street, Uzvaras Street, Lapskalna Street, Atmodas Street, the Dobele highway, and back along Lielā Street to Pilssalas Street.
Further details about the circumstances of the crash and the condition of the injured riders have not yet been made public.
