Heat supply to several buildings around Nameja Street in Jelgava is planned to be interrupted from 9:00 on 19 October until 18:00 on 21 October. The announcement comes from the heat supplier SIA “Gren Jelgava”. The outage is linked to heating pipeline reconstruction carried out under a project to improve the efficiency of Jelgava's heating system.

Affected buildings

The interruption will affect the following addresses:

  • Kooperatīva Street 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 10;
  • 4th Line (4. līnija) 1, 3 and 15;
  • Dobele Highway (Dobeles šoseja) 86, 94, 96, 98, 100 and 100A;
  • Nameja Street 2, 2A, 4, 6 and 46.

Why the outage is needed

A new section of heating pipeline has been built on Nameja Street and must be connected to the existing district heating network. The company says preparatory work is under way to keep the outage as short as possible.

The duration depends on several consecutive steps: the water in the heating network must be cooled to a safe temperature, the pipeline section drained, construction work carried out, the safety of the new connection checked, and finally the pipeline refilled.

Heat supply to customers will be restored as soon as the work is finished, which may be earlier than the time given in the announcement.
