New parking lot opens on Palīdzības iela by former Jelgava prison
A parking lot on Palīdzības iela 3 next to the former Jelgava prison has been opened to traffic after a previous entry ban sign was removed. The municipal utility says the move aims to improve traffic flow and add more parking spaces in the area.
The Jelgava municipal institution “Pilsētsaimniecība” has announced that a parking lot at Palīdzības iela 3, next to the former Jelgava prison, is now open for use by drivers.
Until now, a “No Entry” road sign blocked access to this area. That sign has now been removed, making the lot freely accessible.
Aim: more spaces, better traffic flow
According to the municipality, the decision to open the lot was made to improve traffic organization and increase the number of parking spaces available to residents in the Palīdzības iela area and the nearby courtyards.
Drivers may park their cars in the lot without any time limit, meaning no maximum parking duration has been set.
Request to keep entrance clear
At the same time, drivers are asked not to park vehicles directly in front of the entrance doors and gates of the former prison building, so as not to obstruct access to the site.
