Jelgava festival gathers practical aid for Ukraine
A festival in Jelgava marking Ukraine's Independence Day and the anniversary of the Baltic Way included organizing a ten-car convoy carrying food and other essential supplies for Ukraine.
On Sunday, September 6, the city of Jelgava held a festival commemorating Ukraine's Independence Day, observed in late August, together with the anniversary of the Baltic Way. Organizers noted that both events share a common theme — the struggle for freedom and independence.
Practical support amid ongoing war
Since Russia's war against Ukraine continues, the festival went beyond marking historical events. Participants also arranged concrete assistance for Ukrainians, who continue to face daily hardships because of the conflict.
As part of the festivities, a convoy of ten vehicles was prepared to travel to Ukraine. The cars are loaded with food and other essential goods intended for people affected by the war in Ukraine.
