Jelgava artist Lolita Zikmane celebrates 85th birthday with new art album
Respected Jelgava artist Lolita Zikmane marked her 85th birthday, receiving the city's highest award and presenting a new art album.

Lolita Zikmane, a beloved artist from Jelgava, celebrated her 85th birthday on June 4 this year. The occasion was marked by three events in the city. For her lifetime contribution and promotion of Jelgava's name, she was awarded the city's highest honor – the "Honorary Badge".
Her personal exhibition titled "Paintings" was open throughout June at the Jelgava Holy Trinity Church Tower, running until June 25. On June 18, the unveiling of the art album "In Colors. Lolita Zikmane" took place at the same venue.
The album was prepared by a group from the Jelgava Artists' Association. The text was written by art scholar and board chairman Māris Brancis. The design was created by Ilona and Ilmārs Drīliņi, while Kārlis Roberts Freibergs handled the English translation. The artist's portrait was photographed by Harijs Daina Liepiņš.
In the book's introduction, Māris Brancis highlights that the artist affirms through each work: "I am, I can, I create." She continues this dedication daily, regardless of circumstances.
