The Ģederts Elias Jelgava History and Art Museum will continue its series of events “Our Stories about the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia” on 11 October at 12:00, the museum has announced. This time visitors are invited to the event “Stories from the Era of the Duchy – Dorothea and Elisa”, in which the historical narrative will be complemented by a musical performance.

Programme

The event will begin with a lecture by researcher Edgars Umbraško titled “When the Heir Is a Matter of State”. It will examine the relationship between Peter von Biron and Dorothea von Medem within the political context of the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia.

After the lecture, the Mītelis ensemble will perform the concert “Dorothea and Elisa”, which will take listeners into the musical world of the duchy's era.

Admission to the event is free of charge.

About the series

The lecture series runs throughout the year. On the second Sunday of every month, those interested can learn more about the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia together with the museum's researchers. The October event continues this series and combines historical storytelling with music.
