Jelgava student wins bronze at International Mathematical Olympiad
Ēriks Ariels Šulzingers from Jelgava Technology Secondary School won a bronze medal at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad in Shanghai, achieving the highest score in the Latvian team.
A student from Jelgava Technology Secondary School, Ēriks Ariels Šulzingers, has won a bronze medal at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), held in Shanghai, China, from July 13 to 21. The Jelgava Education Board reported this achievement.
Šulzingers, one of six members of the Latvian national team, scored 18 points in the individual competition, placing 263rd among all participants. This was the highest result in the Latvian team.
Overall, the Latvian team earned four bronze medals and one honorable mention at this IMO. In the team ranking, Latvia finished 69th out of 117 competing countries.
The International Mathematical Olympiad is the world's most prestigious mathematics competition for high school students, where participants solve six complex problems over two days. Latvia has been participating since 1992. Next year's IMO is scheduled to be held in Hungary.
