300th Baby of the Year Born at Jelgava Hospital – a Boy Named Lukas
On Wednesday, July 14, Jelgava City Hospital welcomed its 300th baby of the year – a boy named Lukas. He is the first child in the family and will go home to Bauska municipality after discharge.

Jelgava City Hospital marked a milestone on Wednesday, July 14, with the birth of the 300th baby of the year. The newborn, a boy named Lukas, arrived at 2:24 PM. He measured 55 centimeters in length and weighed 3540 grams. Lukas is the first child in his family, and after leaving the hospital, he will join his parents at their home in Bauska municipality.
To celebrate the occasion, the hospital presented Lukas and his family with a special gift from the city of Jelgava. Looking back at the first six months of the year, March was the busiest month with 55 births, while February saw the fewest with 34. The other months recorded: January – 39, April – 50, May – 46, and June – 49 newborns.
