Jelgava Canoeists Achieve High Results at European Championships
Athletes from Jelgava Children and Youth Sports School earned top-six finishes at the European Junior and U-23 Canoe Sprint Championships in Hungary.
The European Junior and U-23 Canoe Sprint Championships took place in Hungary, where athletes from Jelgava performed successfully. Among the five representatives of the Jelgava Children and Youth Sports School (BJSS), two reached the top six.
Melānija Čamane, in the U-23 women's doubles kayak 500 meters, paired with Krista Bērziņa from Limbaži, finished 6th. Mihails Solovejs, in the junior men's singles canoe 1000 meters, also took 6th place.
Additionally, Solovejs together with Vadims Žavoronkovs placed 9th in the junior men's doubles canoe 500 meters. In the junior women's singles kayak 1000 meters, Maija Salzirne finished 16th, and Artūrs Gasners placed 19th in the junior men's singles kayak 500 meters.
