In the MXGP class, Lucas Coenen took the lead from the start and secured a comfortable victory in the first moto. He was followed by Dutch rider Jeffrey Herlings, while the two Kawasaki riders, France's Romain Febvre and Latvia's Pauls Jonass, finished third and fourth respectively. Jonass was running fifth on the opening lap but moved up to fourth after Frenchman Tom Vialle crashed. He maintained that position to the finish.
In the MX2 class, Spain's Guillem Farres claimed victory, ahead of Belgium's Sacha Coenen and Germany's Simon Längenfelder. The Latvian brothers delivered solid performances: Jānis Reišulis ran consistently in fourth place throughout the race, while Kārlis Reišulis dropped to eighth at one point but fought back to finish seventh.
The second motos for both MXGP and MX2 classes will take place on Sunday, where riders will compete for higher overall standings.
