Jonass Suffers Heavy Crash in British MXGP, Reišulis Brothers Shine in MX2
Pauls Jonass endured a heavy crash in the second race of the British MXGP round, finishing 21st overall. In MX2, both Reišulis brothers finished in the top ten.
In the British round of the MXGP World Championship, Latvian rider Pauls Jonass experienced a painful crash. He finished 17th in the first race and was running seventh early in the second race. However, on lap 12, he suffered a severe crash, remaining on the ground for several minutes as medics attended to him.
The second race was won by Dutchman Jeffrey Herlings, who edged out Frenchman Romain Febvre by just over a second. Slovenian Tim Gajser took third place. In the overall round classification, Herlings topped the standings with 50 points, followed by Febvre with 42. Jonass earned four points and placed 21st.
In the overall championship standings after 12 rounds, Belgian Luca Koonen leads with 566 points. Herlings is second with 555 points, and Febvre third with 494. Jonass sits tenth with 273 points.
In the MX2 class, the second race saw Latvians Kārlis Alberts Reišulis finish sixth and Jānis Mārtiņš Reišulis eighth. Spanish rider Guillem Farres won both races and the overall round with 50 points. German Simon Langenfelder was second with 44 points.
Jānis Mārtiņš Reišulis collected 29 points for sixth place overall in the round, while Kārlis Alberts Reišulis took seventh with 28 points. In the championship standings, Farres leads with 563 points. Jānis Mārtiņš is sixth with 434 points, and Kārlis Alberts eighth with 336 points.
The World Championship season consists of 19 rounds.
