Latvian motocross rider Jonass delivered an impressive performance in the first race of the round, moving up to second position with a confident move already in the third corner. He then maintained a strong and fast pace throughout the race, keeping closest rivals behind him and finishing second at the flag — his first top-three race result in more than two years.

After the race, Jonass said he was satisfied with his performance, noting it was important to show, after recovering from injury, that he still believes in his ability to fight near the front. He added that racing in second place actually required less energy than fighting further back in the field.

Tougher second race

In the second race, Jonass again started strongly among the leaders, sitting in fourth place after the opening corners. However, he could not sustain a competitive pace. He explained that he lacked intensity and rode too cautiously, which on a demanding track caused the bike to become unstable over every bump. As a result, he gradually dropped back and finished the race in ninth place.

Despite the difficult second moto, his overall fourth-place finish for the round is his best result of the season so far, further strengthening his tenth position in the world championship standings.

Looking back on the round and recent events, Jonass noted that a crash in Foxhill happened just as he was feeling particularly strong. He said this shows he has not yet fully returned to his previous level, meaning he needs to be careful not to overdo training. Still, he expressed confidence about continuing to improve his results in upcoming races.
