Jonass Sixth, Reišulis Second in MXGP and MX2 Rounds in Portugal
Latvian riders Pauls Jonass placed sixth in MXGP and Jānis Mārtiņš Reišulis finished second in MX2 at the tenth round of the Motocross World Championship in Portugal.

On Sunday, the tenth round of the Motocross World Championship took place in Portugal, producing contrasting results for Latvian riders. In the MXGP class, Pauls Jonass finished sixth, while in MX2, Jānis Mārtiņš Reišulis secured second place and his brother Kārlis Alberts Reišulis finished eighth.
MXGP Class
In the first race, Jonass placed sixth. In the second race, he completed the first lap in sixth, dropped to seventh on the next lap, and returned to sixth on the eighth lap, holding that position to the finish. The race was won by Dutch rider Jeffrey Herlings, who beat Belgian Lucas Coenen by 6.203 seconds and Frenchman Romain Febvre by 9.857 seconds. Jonass was 14.419 seconds behind Herlings.
Combining both races, Herlings scored 47 points, Coenen 40, Febvre 40 (third), and Jonass 30 points, giving him sixth. In the overall standings after ten rounds, Coenen leads with 506 points, Herlings is second with 449, and Febvre third with 394. Jonass has 234 points in tenth place.
MX2 Class
Jānis Mārtiņš Reišulis finished second in the first race. In the second race, he was second for the first ten laps, then dropped to third on lap 11 and to fourth on lap 15, where he finished. Kārlis Alberts Reišulis took tenth in the first race; in the second, he started eighth, dropped to ninth, then gained seventh on lap six and held it to the finish.
The second race winner was Spaniard Guillem Farrés, who beat J. Reišulis by 11.717 seconds, with Belgian Liam Everts third, 19.267 seconds behind. K. Reišulis lost 52.293 seconds. For the round, Farrés earned 50 points, J. Reišulis 40, Belgian Sacha Coenen 37, and K. Reišulis 25 points (eighth).
In the world championship standings, S. Coenen leads with 477 points, Farrés is second with 445, and German Simon Längenfelder third with 415. J. Reišulis has 355 points in sixth, K. Reišulis 273 in eighth. The season has 20 rounds.
