Seven shot dead by gunmen at church funeral in Jordan
Two gunmen opened fire on a funeral inside a church in Jordan's central Karak governorate, killing at least seven people and injuring ten, according to state media. No one has claimed responsibility.

At least seven people were killed on Friday when two gunmen attacked a funeral held in a church in Jordan's central Karak governorate, state media report. Ten more people were injured. Such violence is rare in Jordan, a majority-Muslim country where Karak has a sizeable Christian community.
How the attack unfolded
The unidentified attackers reportedly arrived by car and started shooting inside the church, then fled. Dozens of people had gathered for the funeral.
Khaled Burqan, one of the mourners, told Jordan's state-run al-Mamlaka TV that the two assailants, armed with a rifle and a pistol, fired on those present for several minutes. Footage believed to have been filmed after the attack appears to show several dead and wounded people on the ground amid chaotic scenes.
Official response
Government spokesman Mohammad al-Momani described the attack as "heinous". Security forces have been deployed to the area, and interior ministry officials are expected to hold a news briefing shortly.
No one has so far claimed responsibility. Although deadly attacks have occurred in Jordan in the past, they remain uncommon.
