Industrial output grew 2.3% in July

Estonian industrial enterprises produced 2.3% more output in constant prices in July 2026 than in the same month a year earlier, according to data from Statistics Estonia. Growth was recorded in all three industrial sectors: mining output rose 13.5%, energy output rose 16%, and manufacturing output rose 1.1%.

Riin Kadarik, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, noted that after five months of decline, manufacturing output began growing again in July.

Wood processing and machinery drive growth

The largest contribution to growth came from wood processing, the biggest manufacturing branch, where output rose 10.8% compared to July last year. Nearly half of this branch's growth came from the production of solid fuel from plant biomass. Output of other machinery and equipment also rose significantly, by 30.3%, driven mainly by the production of lifting equipment and specialised machinery.

In July, growth was recorded in two-thirds of manufacturing branches. Among the most significant branches, electrical equipment production rose 4%, while production of computers and electronic and optical equipment rose 3%. Food production grew 1.5% in July, the first increase this year — the last time this branch saw growth was in December 2025.

Meanwhile, production of metal products continued to decline, as it did in June, falling 0.9%.

Export share slightly lower

In July, 65.2% of total manufacturing output was sold on foreign markets, a slightly smaller share than in June. According to calendar-adjusted data, sales of manufacturing output at current prices rose 7.9% compared to July 2025. Domestic sales increased 8.6%, while export sales rose 7.5%.
