Two People Rescued from Broken Catamaran in Jūrmala
Last evening in Jūrmala, rescuers saved two people from a broken catamaran at Kauguri Beach. In total, the State Fire and Rescue Service received 75 calls in 24 hours.

Rescue Operation in Kauguri
Yesterday, July 17, at 6:26 PM, the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) received a call to Kauguri Beach near Murdu Street. Two people needed rescue from a broken catamaran. Rescuers used a boat to bring them to shore, completing the operation at 7:10 PM.
Other Incidents
During the past 24 hours, VUGD also responded to two calls where unattended food had burned on stoves in homes. In one case, an electric stove caught fire in a kitchen.
Fire Safety Reminder
VUGD reminds that leaving a pot or pan unattended on a hot stove can quickly burn, producing thick smoke and, under the heat, igniting household items and kitchen furniture. If the fire is not noticed in time, flames can engulf the entire kitchen and home.
Statistics
In total, from July 17, 6:30 AM to July 18, 6:30 AM, VUGD received 75 calls: 20 for firefighting, 26 for rescue operations, and 29 false alarms.
