Driver flees scene after hitting pedestrian at crosswalk in Jūrmala
At an intersection in Jūrmala, a driver failed to yield to a pedestrian pushing a bicycle across a crosswalk, struck them, and left the scene. Police are now seeking witnesses.
On September 1 at around 12:40 PM, a traffic accident occurred in Jūrmala at the intersection of Lībiešu Street and Talsu Highway. A driver, whose identity and vehicle remain unknown, was traveling along Talsu Highway from the direction of Skolas Street and making a right turn.
While executing the turn, the driver failed to yield to a pedestrian who was crossing the road at a marked crosswalk while pushing a bicycle. The pedestrian was struck and sustained bodily injuries as a result of the collision.
After the collision, the driver left the scene without waiting for police to arrive and without providing assistance to the injured pedestrian.
Police appeal for witnesses
State Police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident and can provide information useful to the investigation to come forward. Police are also calling on the driver involved to contact them.
