Juventus' season-opening match brought mixed news for the Turin club, as concern grew not only over goalkeeper Wojciech... actually Guglielmo Vicario's late substitution, but more significantly over an injury to attacking midfielder Kenan Yıldız.

The 21-year-old Turkey international was substituted in the middle of the second half after sustaining a left leg injury. Medical examinations conducted this morning have not yet fully clarified the extent of the problem, and a decision on his recovery plan is still pending. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, surgery has not been ruled out, which could sideline him for up to two months.

A rising talent

Born in Germany and developed in Bayern Munich's youth academy, Yıldız joined Juventus at the age of 17. At international level, he chose to represent Turkey, his ethnic homeland. Last season he scored ten goals and provided six assists in 36 appearances for Juventus. For the Turkish national team, he has scored five goals in 31 caps and featured in all three of Turkey's matches at this year's World Cup, where the team failed to advance from the group stage.

What's next

Without their top scorer, Juventus will continue their season with home matches against Parma and Milan. In September, the club will also begin its Europa League campaign, with opponents to be determined on Friday.
