How to choose the right vacuum cleaner for your home

The vacuum cleaner market has grown far more diverse, ranging from classic bag models to robots and washing devices. Choosing the right one depends on more than just power and price.

The range of vacuum cleaners available today has expanded significantly. Alongside traditional corded models with a dust bag, consumers can now choose cordless stick vacuums, robot vacuums, cyclone-type models, handheld devices, and machines suited for both dry and wet cleaning. This wide selection makes it possible to find a suitable option whether for a small apartment or a large house.

When choosing a vacuum cleaner, it is worth considering more than just power and price. Other important factors include the type of flooring in the home, the size of the area to be cleaned, the dust collection system, the device's size and weight, noise level, filter quality, and the attachments included.

Different solutions for different needs

Classic bag models remain a practical choice for regular cleaning, since collected dirt can be disposed of easily without handling an open container — though it is worth checking how easy it is to find replacement bags for a given model. Cyclone vacuums collect dust in a container instead, eliminating the need for bags altogether, but buyers should check the container's capacity and how easy it is to empty.

Cordless stick vacuums are popular for quick, everyday cleaning since they allow free movement around the home without a cord getting in the way. Battery life is the key consideration here — the larger the area, the more important it becomes to clean the whole home on a single charge. Charging time and whether the battery is replaceable also matter.

Robot vacuums allow floor cleaning to be automated. Depending on the model, they may offer room mapping, cleaning schedules, no-go zones, and wet mopping functions, with reliable navigation being especially important in homes with multiple rooms and furniture. For those who need more than dry cleaning, washing vacuums can provide deeper cleaning of floors, carpets, or upholstery — though it is essential to confirm beforehand which surfaces a specific model is designed for.
