The Kaļķu Street quarter in Kuldīga has become an example of how abandoned areas can be revitalized through culture and entrepreneurship. Until recently, the site was an abandoned transport base with trees on the roof and piles of tires. Now the quarter hosts a variety of businesses and creative individuals: a tinsmith workshop, coffee roastery, contemporary art studio, gym, piano builders, brewery, and music recording studio. The quarter is also home to well-known artists such as Rolands če, Olga Rajecka, and the band "Carnival Youth".
