In football's English Championship, the second tier of the English league system, Welsh club Swansea City sit top of the table. Their 26-year-old captain and Wales defender Ben Cabango believes the squad's "humble" approach is paying dividends. After a four-game international break, Swansea came from 1-0 down to beat Norwich City.

Cabango says the team feels real togetherness and character. By his count, it is the third time this season they have recovered from conceding first, and he says there is no panic when that happens.

Strong start to the season

Swansea have lost only once this season, away at Southampton. At home they have won three games and drawn two. Cabango says there is real belief in the squad, and the players perform with confidence and aggression, which he credits to manager Vitor Matos. The boss reportedly tells them before every game to treat it like a cup final and not to look too far ahead.

Iconic former Swansea manager John Toshack was present for the Norwich game. Cabango acknowledged that supporters and players alike are excited about leading the promotion race, but said the good start is only a platform to build on.

Upcoming fixtures

Swansea travel to Millwall on Tuesday, then host third-placed West Ham United on Saturday. Cabango expects a physical, demanding game at Millwall with set pieces and long balls, a different test from the Norwich match. He says the team will recover, prepare and go in with confidence and belief.
