When a Child With a Runny Nose and Cough Should Stay Home: Experts Urge Common Sense
Viral infections, which children catch most often, become more frequent in autumn. Specialists on Latvian Radio's programme «Ģimenes studija» say a child's general condition and the period of active virus shedding are decisive.

Autumn has arrived in Latvia, and with it comes a rise in various viral infections. Children are the group that falls ill most often, so parents again face the question of when a child with symptoms can attend an educational institution and when it is better to keep them at home.
Specialists on the Latvian Radio programme «Ģimenes studija» («Family Studio») said the decisive factors are the child's general well-being and the period of active virus shedding. They called on parents to act responsibly and to rely on common sense.
The programme's guests stressed that there is no better yardstick than common sense.
