Chechnya's Kadyrov re-elected with record 99.85% of the vote
Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has won re-election with 99.85% of the vote, his highest result yet. Governor elections were also held in seven other Russian regions, with all incumbents winning.
Ramzan Kadyrov has been re-elected head of Chechnya, securing 99.85% of the vote once all precincts were counted, according to figures from Russia's Central Election Commission cited by the state news agency TASS.
The result marks Kadyrov's strongest showing since he first won the post. He received 94.8% of the vote in 2016 and 99.7% in the previous election in 2021.
Two other candidates were on the ballot this year: Ismail Denilkhanov of A Just Russia, who chairs Chechnya's Public Chamber, and Khalid Nakaev of the Communist Party, a member of Chechnya's regional parliament. Each of them received 0.05% of the vote.
Other regional elections
Gubernatorial elections also took place in seven other Russian regions on the same day, and sitting incumbents were ahead in every one of them. In Mordovia, Artyom Zdunov led with 78.74%; in Tuva, Vladislav Khovalyg won 90.95%; in the Belgorod region, Alexander Shuvaev took 65.97%; in the Bryansk region, Yegor Kovalchuk received 68.03%; in the Tver region, Vitaly Korolev won 69.8%; in the Penza region, Oleg Melnichenko took 70.92%; and in the Ulyanovsk region, Alexey Russkikh secured 76.65% of the vote.
