What Women Expect From a Man on a First Date: Ten Personal Views
Latvijas Avīze has published ten women's answers on how a man should behave for them to be open to intimacy on a first date. Confidence, humor, politeness and naturalness come up in the replies.

On 17 October, the website of the Latvian daily Latvijas Avīze published a collection in which ten women, identified only by first name, describe what a man would need to do or be for them to agree to intimacy on a first date. The piece is a set of personal opinions, not a study or a survey with statistics.
Most frequently mentioned qualities
Several of the women stress self-confidence and gallant, gentlemanly behavior. Marina, Anastasija, Violeta and Dace mention intelligence, politeness or a non-intrusive manner. Kristīne names charisma, wit and the ability to be an interesting conversation partner as important, while others mention a sense of humor.
Marina wants a man to talk about everything except sex and to touch her gently, though she adds that she would hardly agree to intimacy on a first date. Valērija, by contrast, believes a man should be taciturn, and says she dislikes it when a companion talks only about himself.
Differing views
Aleksandra thinks intimacy should happen suddenly and unplanned, and that the man must make her feel relaxed and comfortable. Baiba sees nothing wrong with sex on a first date, does not want staged romance "like in the movies", and says natural behavior is enough. Jūlija believes it is easier if the woman has not had intimate relationships for a long time, and that the man should show he enjoys spending time together.
Liene names physical traits as important, such as well-kept long hair and blue eyes. Kristīne admits that if the desire is not there, no methods or tricks will save the situation.
Overall, the women's answers differ: some emphasize character and behavior, others appearance, and some consider emotional connection decisive.
