Estonian parliament member Kalev Stoicescu announced on August 9 that he has resigned from the Eesti 200 party. In a social media post he said he had informed party leader Kristina Kallas and the Eesti 200 faction in the Riigikogu of his decision. The move is also confirmed by an entry in the Commercial Register.

Stoicescu said the decision took a long time to reach, and that he had even considered whether to continue in politics at all. He left the party's board back in February 2024 and did not run in the local elections of October 2025. However, he said close associates and voters had unanimously encouraged him to continue and to run in the next Riigikogu elections.

Possible move to another party

Stoicescu revealed that he has already been offered membership in another party, though he has not yet made a decision. He stressed his wish to keep contributing to Estonia's future, particularly in the areas of defense, security and foreign policy.

Stoicescu belonged to Eesti 200 from September 30, 2022. He first ran for the party in the 2019 Riigikogu elections, winning 395 votes, and in the 2023 Riigikogu elections received 3,663 votes, securing a seat in parliament. In the current Riigikogu he chairs the National Defence Committee. In the European Parliament elections he received 1,678 votes, not enough to be elected.

The Eesti 200 party was registered in November 2018.
