Russian Su-30 Fighter Jet Crashes in Kaliningrad Region During Training Flight
Russia's Defense Ministry said a Su-30 fighter jet crashed in the Kaliningrad region during a routine training flight. Both crew members ejected and were found alive.

Russia's Defense Ministry said on Wednesday that a Su-30 military fighter jet crashed during a training flight in the Kaliningrad region, Russia's western exclave between Lithuania and Poland. Both crew members ejected from the aircraft and were later found by a search and rescue team.
The ministry said the pilots' lives were not in danger. According to its statement, the aircraft came down in an unpopulated area and was not carrying any weapons. The cause of the crash is not yet clear.
Possible location
Some Russian news outlets reported that the Su-30 went down in the area around the Chernyakhovsk naval airbase, a key hub of the Russian Navy's Baltic Sea Fleet. A video from an eyewitness shared on social media shows a fireball and a thick column of smoke rising after the crash. The footage also shows a group of men in military uniforms standing at a cemetery and looking toward the crash site. The cemetery is located east of the airbase.
Earlier incident
A similar military aviation accident took place in the Amur region in Russia's Far East late last month, when six crew members of a Russian bomber were killed.
