A former transport base in Kuldīga, abandoned a decade ago, now hosts a diverse mix of creative and business ventures including a coffee roastery, contemporary art studio, and brewery.
In Kuldīga, on Kaļķu Street, a site that ten years ago was an abandoned transport base with trees growing on its roof and piles of tires in the corners has been transformed into a creative industrial quarter. Today, it is recognized as one of the town's new, stylish destinations.
The quarter now houses a variety of enterprises and creative activities: a tinsmith's workshop, a coffee roastery, a contemporary art studio, a gym, piano builders, a brewery, and a music recording studio. It is also a meeting place for artist Rolands Če, Olga Rajecka, and the band “Carnival Youth”.
This diverse environment illustrates how culture and creative industries can add value to business and urban space, turning neglected areas into vibrant community hubs.
