Once a derelict vehicle depot, the Kalku Street creative industrial quarter in Kuldiga now hosts a tinsmith workshop, coffee roastery, contemporary art studio, brewery, and other creative enterprises.
The Kalku Street creative industrial quarter in Kuldiga exemplifies how culture and entrepreneurship can complement each other. A decade ago, this was an abandoned vehicle base with trees growing on the roof and piles of tires in the corners. This summer, the site is home to diverse creative businesses: a tinsmith workshop, a coffee roastery, a contemporary art studio, a gym, piano makers, a brewery, a music recording studio, as well as artists Rolands če, Olga Rajecka, and the band “Carnival Youth”.
The quarter has become one of Kuldiga's new trendy spots, bringing together representatives of various creative industries. This transformation highlights the added value of culture in business and urban regeneration.
