European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas has announced she will propose new sanctions against Russia following its strikes on Sloviansk and the Kyiv region. In a post on social media platform X, she stated that Russia's indiscriminate attacks on Kyiv and other areas are not accidental but deliberately cause civilian casualties. Kallas highlighted that the strike on the Honorary Consulate of Latvia in Sloviansk underscores Moscow's complete disregard for international law. She expressed full solidarity with Latvia. In response to the attacks, the EU diplomat said that the Russian representative to the EU will be summoned, and she will propose adding new entities linked to the Russian military-industrial complex to the sanctions list.
