Canada's men's soccer team has made history by reaching the World Cup Round of 16 for the first time. The Round of 32 continues on Monday with Brazil facing Japan, Germany taking on Paraguay, and the Netherlands meeting Morocco.

France coach Didier Deschamps has rejoined his squad in Boston after returning to France to attend his mother's funeral. Les Bleus will face Sweden on Tuesday in New Jersey.

In Formula One, George Russell won the Austrian Grand Prix, his second victory of the season after winning the season opener in Australia. In MotoGP, Japan's Ai Ogura claimed his maiden win at the Netherlands Grand Prix, finishing ahead of Raul Fernandez and Jorge Martin.

In cycling, Romain Grégoire became French national road champion at the age of 23. In tennis, Ugo Humbert lost to Belgium's Zizou Bergs in the Eastbourne final (3-6, 6-1, 6-4). The pair will meet again in the first round of Wimbledon, which begins on Monday with Aryna Sabalenka, Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic starting their campaigns.
