Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Ankara, announced preparations for a new aid package for Ukraine. The aid is valued at $900 million, though it was not specified whether in Canadian or US dollars. Typically, Canada accounts such aid in Canadian dollars, which is approximately $633 million US.
According to Carney, the package will include vehicles, ammunition, and air defense systems. He emphasized that the aid will be provided in the medium term, within the coming months.
Zelensky noted that Ukraine has already received an air defense package from Canada. Carney also stated that Canada plans to continue supporting Ukraine's energy needs, reconstruction, and economic strengthening.
"Pressure on Russia will only increase. Ukraine will win. There is a lot of positive work ahead," Carney said.
