Cantù falls in overtime to Udine despite late comeback, Gražulis scores eight
In Italy's top basketball league, Cantù lost in overtime to Udine after forcing extra time with a buzzer-beating three-pointer. Latvian forward Gražulis scored eight points with three blocks.
In an Italian top-division basketball game, Cantù spent most of the contest trailing Udine, with the second quarter being the only stretch where the home side held their own or led.
Late in regulation, Cantù staged a comeback from a five-point deficit, tying the score with a three-point shot right at the final buzzer, sending the game into overtime.
In the closing seconds of the extra period, Udine's Andrea Calzavara hit the decisive basket to secure the win for his team.
Gražulis's performance
The former Latvian national team forward, now playing for Cantù, logged 27 minutes on the court and scored eight points — matching his output from the previous meeting between the two sides in Venice. He converted three of five two-point attempts and both of his free throws, with four of his points coming in overtime.
Gražulis also made his mark defensively, recording three blocks, one of them in overtime. He added two rebounds and drew three fouls from opponents during the game.
In the previous round, Cantù had lost to the Venice club 73:85.
Cantù's next game is scheduled for Sunday, when the team will host the Naples basketball club at home.
