Dog in Kansas leads police officer to fallen owner and helps save his life
In Kansas, a dog wearing a leash found a police officer on its own and led him to its owner, who had fallen in the yard. The man had lain on the floor for more than three hours and is now recovering at home.
A loyal dog in the US state of Kansas has helped save its owner's life. The Leawood police department reported the incident and publicly praised the animal.
The event was captured by the officer's body camera. While on patrol in a residential area, the officer noticed a dog in the middle of the road with a leash attached, but no person was nearby. The dog began barking loudly, drawing the officer's attention. Surprised, the officer first asked the animal why it was not heading home.
The dog did not give up, however, and led the officer about half a block to the yard of its home. At the end of the driveway, next to an open garage, the officer spotted the homeowner. The man had fallen and was lying helpless on the floor, unable to get up on his own.
According to the emergency services, the man had spent more than three hours on the cold floor. Paramedics who were called to the scene quickly gave him assistance.
The Leawood Police Department said: "Thanks to the resident's faithful companion, our officer was able to find him and provide the necessary help."
The injured man is now recovering safely at home, together with the four-legged rescuer who saved him.
