Kaparkalēja takes silver, Skujiņš bronze at roller skiing World Cup stage in Italy

On Saturday, Italy hosted another stage of the roller skiing World Cup, featuring a 200-metre freestyle sprint. Several Latvian national team athletes competed successfully, with two of them producing standout results — Linda Kaparkalēja and Valts Skujiņš. The results were reported by Ivars Bācis, a representative of the Latvian Ski Federation.

Kaparkalēja finishes second

Linda Kaparkalēja, from Madona and the reigning world champion in roller skiing, took second place in the sprint. The result shows she has maintained strong form at the start of the new season and remains among the world's leading roller skiers.

Skujiņš claims bronze among juniors

Another Latvian representative, Valts Skujiņš, also reached the podium, finishing third in the junior classification of the 200-metre freestyle sprint. This result is regarded as a notable achievement for the younger generation of Latvian roller skiers.

Overall, the performances of both athletes in Italy point to strong form and competitiveness among Latvian roller skiers on the international stage. The Latvian Ski Federation highlighted that several national representatives delivered good results at this World Cup stage.
